Michael Vick Free to Play

*Michael Vick just can’t stay out of trouble. He was recently under investigation by the NFL for a shooting incident that occurred at the star’s birthday party in Virginia Beach, Va., last month.

Quanis Phillips, co-defendant in the dog-fighting trial, was shot outside of a nightclub on June 25.

The league ruled that he had nothing to do with incident, so that means Vick can continue playing.

The league released the following statement:

“Commissioner Goodell informed Michael Vick [Tuesday] at Eagles camp that there will be no disciplinary action as a result of the incident in Virginia, based on his current understanding of the facts. Commissioner Goodell spoke several weeks ago by phone with Michael, Tony Dungy, and Eagles Coach Andy Reid. All were in agreement on the need for additional support measures to be added to Michael’s plan to enhance his opportunity to succeed in life and football. These additional steps will remain confidential, but they will require Michael to meet even higher standards.”

Wyclef Not Getting Ex-Fugees Bandmate Support for Haitian Prez Bid

*Brooklyn-bred rapper Wyclef Jean is counting on New Yorkers to back his run for president of Haiti – but he can’t count on his former bandmate, reports the NY Daily News.

Soon after the celebrity singer filed papers for his candidacy Thursday, fellow Fugees star Pras announced he’s supporting another hopeful.

“I endorse Michel Martell as the next president of Haiti because he is the most competent candidate for the job,” Pras said in a statement.

Jean is hoping other Haitian expats living in New York don’t agree.

“Wyclef Jean needs to be 3 million strong. Diaspora moving together to engage in help to get these people into a better situation,” Jean told the Daily News.

Isiah Thomas Back With the Knicks (and Still at FIU)

*Even though he caused them to have to pay out millions of dollars in a sexual harassment lawsuit and was, by many accounts, questionable general manager/upper echelon executive, for some reason the New York Knicks have brought Isiah Thomas back into the fold.

Thomas will be a consultant to the Knicks while still coaching Florida International.

Thomas told ESPN.com Friday that he accepted a more formal and unique consulting position with his former employer, where he will help Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh make decisions on draft picks, trades and personnel.

“I’ll be available to him for that,” Thomas said by phone from South Florida. “I’ve always said that if there’s a GM position that should ever open that I would be interested in going back to the NBA as a GM for the right spot and the right opportunity. In terms of going back as a coach, I don’t see myself doing that.”

Mrs. DMX Tells All

*Tashera Simmons, DMX’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, is not keeping quiet about her failed marriage and the pending memoir that will accompany it.

In a new interview with VIBE.com, Tashera elaborates on DMX’s infidelity, in addition to her thoughts on once trying to save him.

She says he had four children out of wedlock that she didn’t know about.
Once the mothers of those children began contacting her, she felt enough was enough.

On his cheating:

“I just felt like with the drugs, that in itself is mentally draining. I felt like since we’ve been together for so long I didn’t want to give up on him.

But when he started coming up with all these kids I was like I can’t because for one, I have kids and I definitely don’t want my daughter to think that that’s okay. The drugs already was too much but then the cheating, I didn’t even know he had time to do that. I mean, I never put it past him; I never say never but without protection? There was just a lot of unprotected sex and I have kids to take care of. I started thinking about all of that and I was like, I can’t do it anymore. I felt he took me for granted.”

On believing she could help him:

“I really felt like I could help him. But I know now that that’s not something I can do. I had to give it to God. It’s not like he was doing it purposely. He was just living like a rock star. The person I met was never like that. He was always loyal to what he believed in and even before we had kids, he used to tell me ? because his mom, it’s him plus three other girls and they all have different fathers. When we got together one of the things he said was, ‘I don’t want to have kids by different mothers, I want to keep all my kids with one woman.’ But once he got in this business it all went left. He just got really caught up.”

On the yes-men who enabled him:

“It’s funny because X has a lot of trust issues so I used to always be with him a lot because he knew that if he couldn’t trust anybody else, that he could trust me. The bigger he got he started being around so many yes-men and I started looking like I was wrong because I was the only one telling him the truth. It was like, I watched my best friend lose his soul. He gained the whole world but at the same time lost his soul.”

Rumor has it Aliya S. King’s book Platinum was loosely based on Tashera.

Montana Says She’s Wanted to be A Video Ho Since High School

*As far as your girl Chippy D, aka Laurence Fishburne’s daughter Montana is concerned, dear old dad is just gonna have get used to the idea of his little girl getting poked in every orifice she’s got and jizzed on while the world watches.

That’s basically what she’s telling him and anyone who’ll listen now. This information comes coourtesy of her latest interview (as far as we know) with Karu Daniels over at Black Voices.

Other than being delusional, we’re still scratching our heads trying to figure out where this chick is coming from. But like they say, it is what it is.  

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

Black Voices: Well, everyone wants to know what your father thinks about it?

Montana Fishburne: I mean, I haven’t talked to him directly yet. We have conflicting schedules, so it’s been hard. But, he’s upset. I hope he supports me. But as soon as I talk to him, you guys are going to hear something.

BV: Why do you think he would be upset?

MF: I mean, no one wants to see their daughter have sex on TV. Fathers are usually upset when they hear about their daughters losing their virginity. So I don’t think he wants to see it blasted across the world. This is something I wanted to do; it’s a goal that I had. I think he’ll be proud that I accomplished one of my goals. So if I’m happy, I’m sure that he’ll be happy, too.

BV: How long have you wanted to do this?

MF: Since I was in high school. It’s been a little secret of mine.

BV: Do you think Brian Pumper will have a rap career now that he has a video out?

MF: No, I don’t think his music appeals to the mainstream.

BV: When are we going to see you and him in action?

MF: Me and Brian are no longer in contact.

BV: Do you think he’s exploiting you?

MF: Yes, I feel taken advantage by Brian Pumper. I don’t really want to go into details about the situation. Jeremy [Greene, an aspiring porn actor], he feels for me, he knows how I feel about it. He has talked to Brian, and they have dealt with each other, because I don’t even want to deal with him anymore. I’m not in contact with Brian Pumper, and I’m just trying to get rid of the situation.

BV: What do you think of people’s feedback saying that you’re tarnishing your father’s name?

MF: I mean, people are going to say what they’re going to say. It hurts that people are thinking that I’m doing this to shame my father. That is not true. He’s an actor. When he was playing Ike Turner, he was beating a woman, I didn’t feel bad about it because he was acting. Porn is something that I wanted to do; acting is something that he wanted to do. So it’s not to shame him; it’s something on my own. I feel like they should want to encourage me and support me and be happy because it’s not degrading to me. If it was leaked how all these other peoples are, I would feel ashamed about it. But I’m not. It’s something that I’m proud of. I’m proud of my body, and I’m proud of my work and the performance that I gave. So all the people sending out negatives should find a different way to look at it and be happy for me.

BV: Are there more Vivid projects in the works?

MF: Yes, I’ve been talking to them about releasing a second movie. If and when I release my second movie for Vivid, I want it to be totally different. It’s still going to be Montana Fishburne, but you’ll see a new concept.

BV: What encouraging words would you give women that have to resort to prostitution and sex?

MF: I mean, I would never want to encourage anyone to resort to prostitution and drugs. But I feel if there’s young women out there who are free-spirited like me and enjoy their body and are not ashamed — and have dreams that people look down on — don’t be afraid of them. And just pursue your dreams even if people have their ideas about it. And be true to yourself.
